Whoa, you made a big jump there!

I absolutely do not advocate legislative enforcement of how/when/where people communicate, barring extreme cases in which communication becomes stalking/harassment. But that’s not communication at all, is it.

Thus, writing. Thus, talking. Thus, public treatises and appeals, stories and questions, discussions and debates.

We’re at odds in what we want.

You want a world in which men feel free to conversationally engage women they don’t know at any time, based on their desire to do so, regardless of her preference/lack of interest.

I want a world in which men are free to conversationally engage women they don’t know (and men! and bears!) but choose to show respect for her desires rather than plunging in, regardless of social cues.

I want a world in which men and women are free to do whatever the fuck they want, but choose freely to avoid actions that disrespect or hurt the people around them. (Yeah yeah, I know that’s not always possible. Let’s not throw out the general idea based on the existence of exceptional circumstances, which will always be around.)

Regarding the failings of our judicial and legal system, I also have concerns. False accusations are terrible and ruin people’s lives. However, so does systemic racism, sexual harassment, police brutality, and economic disparity. We have a lot to repair. I don’t believe going back to anything will help. Going forward, however: there’s potential.

Take care.
