Oh yep, I remember that verse, when Jesus was preaching and He said, “Go forth and be ye minimizers of evil.”

And that other time when He was like, “Blessed are those who minimize evil rather than straight-up standing for good, for theirs is the kingdom of complacency.”

And also, later, when He preached about His own mission: “The thief comes to steal and kill and destroy, but I have come that we might minimize evil, because actually aiming for goodness, love, and truth is too much to ask.”

And who can forget this gem of the Gospel message: “I am the way, and the truth, and the minimizer of evil. No one comes to the Father except through a similar position of compromise which allows them to justify blindness toward clearly awful choices and behaviors in the name of minimizing evil.” One of my personal favorites. Almost as good as this powerful teaching: “Then Jesus called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross of minimizing evil and follow me.”

But the one that really gets me (every time I’m tempted to try sharing the light of Jesus but remember that my actual job as a Christian is to minimize evil) is this: “In the same way, let your light of minimizing evil so shine before others, that they may see your self-justifying deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
