I love your thoughts here. Thanks for writing this. Jesus has always been my friend. But I probably wouldn’t pass the “are you a real Christian” test when given by many of the people I grew up with (in church). Shifting/expanding beyond the Western church definition of who Jesus is and what he taught us has profoundly changed me. When you step out of this limited place of seeing yourself as an unworthy sinner and focusing all your attention on fighting sin, it’s like you can actually grow and show love. Crazy.
